Coach T.J. Tyrrell enters his 14th season as Head Coach at IC Catholic Prep with a career record of 238–145, the most wins in program history. His teams have captured three Regional Championships, three Conference Championships, and two Sweet 16 appearances, including setting a school record for victories during the 2024–25 season.

A three-time Illinois Basketball Coaches Association (IBCA) Coach of the Year, Coach Tyrrell has built a program defined by discipline, accountability, and character. Above all, he is committed to developing student-athletes who are responsible, resilient, and optimistic, both on and off the court.

A proud alumnus of the IC Catholic Prep Class of 1997, Tyrrell has coached at every level within the program since rejoining his alma mater in 2002. As a player, he was a standout at IC and continued his career at Dominican University, where he was recognized with Dominican Basketball’s “Mr. Star” Award in 2001 for leadership and excellence on and off the court.

Tyrrell earned his B.A. from Dominican University (2001), a Master of Education in Educational, School, and Counseling Psychology from the University of Missouri (2018), and an MBA from the University of Illinois (2020). In 2025, he was honored with the Vistage Leadership Award for his commitment to developing people and fostering high-performing teams.
